Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect in my individual sessions?
Early sessions usually focus on information gathering to understand the issues you would like to work on and to create a treatment plan that aligns with your personal goals for therapy. Later sessions will focus on implementing the plan, including building resiliency, coping skills, and a broader sense of confidence with your emotions and inner experience.
What can I expect in my couples sessions?
Early sessions usually aim to gain an in-depth understanding of the relationship, including its history, dynamics, and challenges, to create a treatment plan. Each partner will also have time to speak privately with the therapist to share their individual experience of the relationship. Later sessions will focus on uncovering the underlying cycles within the relationship to resolve challenges and build a more trusting, secure, and fulfilling relationship.

How long do I need to be in therapy?
The amount of time individuals and couples require to reach their goals will vary. It is important that we work at a pace that allows you to feel comfortable in expressing and exploring vulnerable thoughts and feelings. In all cases, the amount of time needed is less important than the journey to healing and growing.
Who is therapy right for?
Therapy is right for people who want to deepen their self-esteem, self-understanding, and grow in their relationships with others and themselves. Starting on a this journey takes a lot of courage and vulnerability, but the right fit with the right therapist can make nearly any experience in therapy enriching, satisfying, and enlightening.

Can I refer someone else to you?
In most cases, yes. If you are not currently a client, you can refer someone. If you are currently a client, let's have a conversation about it, because there are some situations where I may not be able to help the person you want to refer due to ethical boundaries.
